Breaking: US JOLTS Job Openings Decline to 8.18 Million in June

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported in the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) on Tuesday that the number of job openings on the last business day of June stood at 8.184 million. This figure shows a slight decline from the revised 8.23 million openings reported in May but exceeded the market expectation of 8.03 million.

According to the report, the number of hires and total separations remained relatively stable at 5.3 million and 5.1 million, respectively. Within separations, quits were recorded at 3.3 million, while layoffs and discharges were 1.5 million.

The US Dollar experienced a modest increase following the release of the JOLTS data. At the time of press, the US Dollar Index (DXY) was up 0.2% on the day, trading at 104.76.

This data underscores a steady labor market with sustained job openings, which may influence future economic policies and interest rate decisions by the Federal Reserve.
