Pip
The standard unit of a currency price move: 0.0001 for most pairs, and 0.01 for pairs quoted in Japanese yen.
Leverage
Using borrowed funds or derivatives to control a position larger than the capital put up.
Stop-loss order
An order that closes a position once the price reaches a level chosen in advance, capping the loss on a trade.
Support and resistance
Price zones where buying (support) or selling (resistance) has repeatedly halted a move.
Market capitalisation
The total market value of a company's shares (share price × shares outstanding) or, in crypto, of a token's circulating supply.
Contango
When futures for later delivery are priced above nearer ones (or above spot), typically reflecting storage, financing and insurance costs…
Stablecoin
A token designed to hold a steady value, usually one US dollar.
Consumer Price Index (CPI)
A measure of the average change in prices paid by consumers for a basket of goods and services.
