Sponsored content policy

Last updated 2026-10-06

Advertising keeps MarketAlleys free. These rules keep it honest.

Labelling

  • Advertisements in display slots are labelled “Advertisement” or “Sponsored” and name the advertiser.
  • Sponsored articles carry a “Sponsored” label, the sponsor’s name and a disclosure at the top of the article.
  • Press releases carry a “Press release” label and the issuing company’s name. They are published as supplied (subject to our standards) and are not independent MarketAlleys journalism.
  • Category sponsorships (“Crypto coverage presented by …”) do not give the sponsor any input into the editorial content in that category.

Sponsored material is never labelled as MarketAlleys analysis and is excluded from editorial features such as related-story recommendations and the Daily Brief’s editorial content.

What we accept

We may decline any advertising or sponsored content. We do not accept material that is misleading, promises guaranteed returns, impersonates another organisation, promotes unlicensed financial activity where a licence is required, or that we believe could cause harm to readers. Advertisers in regulated sectors are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to them.

Data and measurement

Advertising performance is measured with privacy-aware, first-party counting (impressions and clicks with bot filtering). We do not sell readers’ personal data, and advertiser metrics are never mixed with editorial popularity metrics.
